Day 71; July 9: The rain is lighter today and the fog raised so we could see some of the scenery. We needed to wait until 2:20 to exit Fords Terror due to the current at the entrance. Once we exited, we went to Dawes Glacier. We had little ice to avoid on the way up to the glacier but we did hit a large piece that I didn’t see until the last moment. Probably scrapped off some bottom paint but no damage that I am aware of. We got a few pictures and headed back to an anchorage I had heard of just outside of Endicott Arm.  I had heard guides on the radio talking about a Moose on Wood Spit a few days earlier. As we approached Wood Spit we started looking and to our wonder we spotted a Moose head down eating grass. The anchorage had us and three passenger yachts for the evening. Wood Spit is a great spot for an anchorage but is very exposed and rollie, I gave it a solid 2 rating.

Day 72; July 10: We got up and started making our way to Pybus Bay, where we saw all the bears a month ago. On the way we probably saw 25 whales. Stopping at each sitting, the trip was longer than planned. The wind picked up and the last hour was rougher than we like but not bad. After we picked our spot, the rain started and a bear came out and was eating grass on the shore by us. Wind is expected and seas are supposed to be 2-3 feet starting this evening into the next couple of days.

Day 73; July 11: The wind wasn’t bad last night but has picked up this morning (30mph) along with the 1” of rain that is predicted today. We are staying put today and trying to keep our spirits up. We know the views are beautiful but we can’t see them through the fog. We did see a bear farther away today and a few deer. The fog lighted up later in the day so we got to see some of the scenery.

Day 74; July 12: We had a plan to get about half way to Petersburg today but all indications are it is still rough outside in Fredrick Sound. We stayed put and plan to go to Petersburg tomorrow. There are three days with minimal rain coming, we might see some of Petersburg we didn’t  during the monsoons last month. 1.4" of rain predicted today, I can't wait.
