Day 77, 7/15: We spent last night
in Wrangell at the dock closest to town. That was nice, no mile hike for
everything. We picked up a few things at the store and went to have a drink after
dinner. We left Wrangell to try and fish
for Halibut. The first place we tried was in deeper water but the current was
moving us too fast. So went to an island across from Wrangell and anchored in 100’
of water. Carolyn got a small one that we let go. That was all for the bites
that day. We anchored in Circle Bay.
Day 78, 7/16: We got up and only
went a short distance where we anchored in 90’ and after 2 hours I got a bite that stuck. He was a little guy but this time we decided to keep it. Not
another bite for the day so we went to Anita Bay for the night. When we were
finishing up processing the fish another boat joined us in the anchorage. I
think this is the fourth time we shared an anchorage with an old wooden boat
that has been restored and is being used as a passenger ship. This one was from
Canada called Swell.
Day 79, 7/17: We left the
anchorage with the intent to fish close to where we decided to anchor. All of
the places were too deep and drifting with the tide we move to fast. So, we
went to the anchorage Fools Inlet (no comments) and I am writing while I make
water. Carolyn just spotted a couple deer and a moose on the far bank. The
weather has been overcast with a few showers the last few days but it hasn’t
been bad at all. The temperatures haven’t gone up significantly but they have
gone up enough for it to be comfortable with a wind breaker at most.
The glacier pictures were Fredrick Sound approaching Petersburg from the north.
