We spent the night of the 12th in the Clover Island Inn. The air worked well but lots of noise from inside the hotel and and the trains outside. On the 13th we started by trying to get fuel at the fuel dock. We thought we prearranged to have the fuel company flip a switch so we could get more than 35 gallons. In reality once we called a guy had to come out and flip a switch on the pump. 175 gallons later we were done, the price was under $6 so I was pleased based on other prices we have seen.
We entered the Snake and went 9 miles up to Ice Harbor Dam. We were early for the recreational schedule but they let us in with no delay. We got tied up and started up and about half way we got turn and the anchor got into a space in the wall that it was hanging up on. After a few really tense minutes we got straightened out again and made it up the rest of the way. There was a lot of slack in our lines and that we thought would be good to stay off the wall but it allowed us to turn too much. Lesson learned. We stayed at Fishhook Park about 9 miles after the dam. That was enough for one day, so we fired up the generator and the air conditioner.
This morning we got up and took off toward Lower Monumental Dam we were making great time and arrived too early. The Lock Master said we could go through on schedule at noon. We back tracked to a park we saw but wasn't on our charts. We tied up for about 1.5 hours to get back to the dam at noon. At the park we walked up to the street to read the sign to find out where we were it was Wind Dust Park. The gate started to lift at 12 exactly. All went smoothly and we double checked ourselves that the ropes weren't too loose. Staying two nights at Lyon's Ferry Marina. Hopefully, it will be cool enough in the morning to get out and do some exploring.
