Arrived at The Dalles this morning getting away from Hood River early to avoid some of the wind. Good idea but the wind was blowing strong well before we got up. The ride was smooth except for one area where the waves got pretty big. Once here we discovered that the power and water were well beyond what our normal power cord and water hose would reach. Luckily we did have another 30 amp cord that we were able to use as an extension. For water we hiked to an Ace in town for a 50 foot extension hose. Had to stop and cool down with a couple IPA's, that's right not Bud Light. We will try the hose tomorrow we still have 2/3 of our tank. We might stay here through the weekend so we are not trying to get into another place during the holiday, wind is predicted in the high 20s the next three days as well.

Pictures are from Hood River, the way to The Dalles, and in The Dalles. They aren't in order, not sure why. The scenery is changing to desert from forest quickly.

  1. How hard is it to maneuver the big boat

  2. If there is little wind and current it is easy. It gets challenging when the wind is blowing or the current is really strong. We try to avoid bad conditions especially when docking, good thing we have lots of fenders.
