Day 19, 5/16: We doubled up on today as well. Carolyn wasn’t
happy with my choice of staying at a tie at your own risk dock. So, we made it
a 80 mile day and anchored in Lowe Inlet in 100’ of water with 300’ of chain
out. We had a few more water falls and more importantly we saw Orca whales two
different times. The first was early and appeared to be a single that was
blowing once in a while and showing a little back. The second group was 4-6
playing in two different groups coming out of the water with the long dorsal
fins. Got a few pictures but we are going to try videos next time. By the time
you see them breach and try to get the camera in the right place it is too
late. Shortly before getting to our anchorage the Disney Wonder called us and asked if we could move to the side of the strait so they could proceed up the center line. They were moving about twice our speed at 19kts.
Day 20, 5/17: Started out about 7 AM and got to Prince
Rupert at 2 PM. One porpoise is all the wild life we saw all day. We followed a
100’ boat towing a boat similar to a small Coast Guard boat as a dinghy. We had
fog for a while but only about 20 minutes where you couldn’t see anything. Good
water and good weather couldn’t ask for much more. Tomorrow is an early up to get to across Dixon entrance (gate3), Alaska.
