Day 11, 5/7: We had 2 rapids to go through and of course the
first one turned to slack after the second. We went through the first one early
and it gave us a push of about 4kts. On our way to the second rapid Carolyn
spotted a bear on the beach. We slowed enough to get a couple of pictures and off
to the rapid. I could see on AIS that
there were 3 tugs at the head of the rapid as we got closer, we could see they
were pulling log booms. There was barely enough room for us to get by in the
narrowest part of the rapid. The rest of the trip to Port Harvey was calm and uneventful.
Day 12, 5/8: Port Harvey to Echo Bay was a delightful ride
with calm water and bright sun. While in Knight Inlet we had Dall's Porpoises jumping
and playing with the boat. They are really hard to get a still picture of so we
will try video in the future. Our stop
at Echo Bay was another case of being too early in the season. They are getting
ready to replace the docks and won’t allow anyone to tie up. They did have a
spot to put us once we said we had a reservation and had paid.
